Particularly, this site was founded by the University of Virginia roommates Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian in 2005. Furthermore, in October 2014 Conde’ Nast publications acquired the site. Also, in 2011, Reddit became an independent subsidiary of Code’ Nast’s parent company, Advance publications.
However, in October 2014, Reddit realized $50 million in funding. Therefore, this was led by Sam Altman and including investors Marc Andreessen. Also, Peter Thiel, Ron Conway, Snoop Dogg, and Jared Leto were also in the picture.
Therefore, the value of their investment in the company was $500 million then. Also, in July 2017, Reddit raised $200 million for a $ 1.8 billion valuation. However, this is with advance publications remaining the majority stakeholder.
